Who? - I was invited to speak about my career in Instructional Design during a local school's Career Fair. Describing Instructional Design can be a challenge, so I knew I needed to SHOW them what I do, rather than just explain it. I designed this course as an interactive example that the learners could experiment with during the first 5 minutes of my presentation. This helped level-set learners on what IDs can create before I described the ins-and-outs of this career field.

What? - I wanted to design a course that would be of interest to teenagers. After doing some research and interviewing a few educators, I landed on this topic. I kept it simplified, since the audience wouldn't have a ton of time to explore.

Why? - I decided to provide three different levels, since the audience ranged from beginners to "IG-worthy photo" enthusiasists. I wanted it to be a short course (less than 5 minutes) so I would still have time to talk about my role as an ID and answer their questions.

How? - The course was designed in Storyline360. WellSaid Labs was used for narration.

"I decided to provide three different levels, since the audience ranged from beginners to "IG-worthy photo" enthusiasists."

"Since becoming an Instructional Designer, I always wanted to create an escape room, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity."

Who? - This course was designed as a review for new hire training for a FinTech company. In this version, the company information has been removed and replaced with general information to protect the anonymity of the company and their proprietary inforamtion.

What? - As a culminating activity, I designed this Escape Room game to help learners review the main ideas from four other eLearning courses they completed as part of their onboarding training. It was also a great opportunity for new employees to work on a team to complete the game.

Why? - Since becoming an Instructional Designer, I always wanted to create an escape room, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity. I knew such a project would be challenging and require me to upskill my Storyline abilities. In creating this project, I learned how to use many of the advanced features within the software.

How? - The course was designed in Storyline360. Aside from some stock background photos (i.e. the cover and opening text conversation scene) I utilized graphic design software to layer various images and illustrations to create all of the graphics. I used triggers and variables to ensure the learner's progress would be saved as they explored various parts of the room.

Who? - This course is designed to teach hospital employees about different fire extinguisher types, how to use a fire extinguisher, and what to do in the event of a fire evacuation. The course helps employees know the proper procedures, which will help prevent fatalities in a fire. It is intended to be an annual workplace training to comply with workplace safety regulations and equip employees with the knowledge to act quickly in the event of a fire.

What? - I designed this workplace fire safety course from a PowerPoint of basic source content that I was given. I completed all phases of this project from beginning to end myself, including creating a design document, storyboard, eLearning course (Storyline, click to view) and job aids (click here to see more).

Why? - As I dug through the source content, I had questions about how one might remember this important, but dry information in the event of an emergency. I knew that the learners needed to engage with the concepts directly. I created the course to allow the learner to obtain the concepts through interactive learning & then apply that learning through a simulation.

How? - The course was designed in Storyline360. WellSaid Labs was used for narration.

"Young professionals want to make the best impression possible, and it all begins with the interview."

Who? - This course is to help anyone who may be unsure of how to dress for a job interview, professional work, or formal event.

What? - I designed a gamified simulation to help young adults learn how to dress for various events. The course gives the learner an option of which character they'd like to follow, and they learn alongside that character through a series of games that vary for each type of event.

Why? - Search for "How to dress for an interview" and you will find a million articles on the topic. Young professionals want to make the best impression possible, and it all begins with the interview. I created this interactive game to help people learn about dress code and etiquette for a variety of situations that they may be unfamiliar with. My goal is to help others learn how to dress for the right occasion based on current advice.

How? -  This course was designed using Storyline 360 and PowerPoint (to use 3D models for video production). WellSaid Labs was used for narration.

Who? -  This course is designed for new hot tub owners. It will help guide them through proper maintenance for keeping their spa clean and bacteria-free.

What? - The course teaches about the required and optional supplies that are needed to maintain a hot tub. It teaches about different chemicals and gives them an opportunity to apply what they learn through a story simulation.

Why? -  Owning a spa can be a lot of work, and a dirty spa can be a breeding ground for bacteria. However, knowing the proper ways to maintain it and following a routine makes owning a home spa seem almost effortless.

How? -  This course was designed in Storyline 360 with native text-to-speech narration (hence the computerized voices).
